Two teens involved in the fatal shooting of another teen during a botched robbery of an underage drug dealer in Aventura in January are facing murder charges, police said.
Silas Lee Spence, 18 and Lucas George Seeger, 19, are both charged with first-degree murder in the Jan. 19 killing of 18-year-old Omar Darwish, Aventura Police said.
Police announced the arrests at a news conference Thursday, where released details of what led up to the fatal shooting in the parking lot of the LA Fitness at 3455 Northeast 207th Street.
According to arrest reports, Spence and Seeger had plotted to steal from a 17-year-old drug dealer, identified in the reports by the initials M.G., who they thought wound be an "easy person to rob."
The teens contacted M.G. on Snapchat claiming they wanted to buy $800 worth of THC vapor oil cartridges, the reports said. Darwish, who was friends with M.G. was tagging along and carrying a BB gun that resembled a real handgun, the reports said.
At one point during the encounter, Spence handed M.G. a bullet and said "I'm going to pay you with this," the reports said. As M.G. started to flee, Darwish pulled out the BB gun and was shot by Spence, the reports said.

Spence and Seeger fled the scene, the reports said. Darwish, who suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, died at the scene. Police said they were able to recover the frame of a semiautomatic firearm from a lake in Seeger's girlfriend's neighborhood in Broward.
Seeger appeared in court Wednesday, where he was ordered held without bond. His attorney argued that he didn't touch the gun and had nothing to do with the shooting.
Police said Spence was in custody Thursday. Attorney information wasn't available for him.
