Woman Assaulted and Robbed in Armed Home Invasion: MDPD

Police are looking for three men who assaulted and robbed a woman during an armed home invasion in southwest Miami-Dade Monday morning.

The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. as 58-year-old Mirta Valdes was attending to pet chickens in her backyard in the 6200 block of Southwest 85th Avenue, Miami-Dade Police said.

The three men who were armed with a gun and a knife and were wearing ski masks jumped the fence and confronted Valdes. They beat her during an altercation then ordered her back into the home, where they demanded that she give up a safe in one of her closets, police said.

Police said the men ransacked the home, stole the safe and jewelry and fled. The suspects are described as white males, and two were wearing dark or black clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
