Police are investigating after a woman was shot and killed while driving in Miami Gardens over the weekend.
Alicia Roundtree, 43, was in the area of Northwest 183rd Street and Northwest 24th Avenue when she was shot around 7:50 p.m. Saturday, Miami Gardens Police said.
Police said her car crashed into other cars a couple blocks away. She was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
Police said they don't know if she was targeted or if it was a stray bullet, but officials said social media posts about a "sniper" in the area were untrue.
"At this time there is nothing that indicates that there is a sniper in the area of NW 183rd Street and 27th Avenue," Police Chief Delma Noel-Pratt said in a statement.
Roundtree was a mother of three.
Police are searching for clues in the shooting and are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
