Jason Taylor: “I'm Happy to be Back at Work”

For the first time since re-signing with the Dolphins, Jason Taylor addressed the media about his love for the team, his respect for the coach and his relationship with the Tuna

The prodigal son has returned and he finally decided to talk.

Jason Taylor addressed the media Tuesday after an off season training session to talk about why he gave up nearly $7 million to rejoin the Dolphins.

Sometimes you just can't put a price tag on family, he said.

"This is where I wanted to be. This is home," he said. "My heart was always here."

The Dolphins re-signed Taylor last week after the former All-Pro had a lackluster, injury plagued season with the Washington Redskins in 2008. Taylor said the year away felt "more like five years" in DC purgatory, but he was still gracious enough to not totally throw Skins' owner Dan Snyder and his dismal former teammates too far under the bus.

Still, the question on everyone's mind was how would Taylor's ego and the Tuna's coexist. Many perceived the defensive end's relationship with Bill Parcells as rocky at best, but Taylor put an end to that speculation, sort of.

He said the two have played golf together and will probably have future dates on the links. Well if you can play 18 holes of golf with a guy under the South Florida sun, then clearly you can get along with him.

"I've got no problem with him at all," Taylor said. "The perception out there is me and Bill were going to come to blows one day. That couldn't be further from the truth."

For the record, if they did duke it out, it would be a pay-per-view fight.

For now, Parcells and Dol'fans are hoping Taylor regains the aggression he had on the field when he won the NFL Defensive MVP award a couple years ago. Teamed with sack master Joey Porter, Taylor should provided a boost to the pass rush and versatility on the defensive line. That's if he returns to the form that forged him a place in the hearts of Miamians.

Taylor said he is ready.

"I wanted to be here from day one and get myself ready to go," he said. "All's well that ends well and I am here and ready to go to work."
