The Miami Marlins used a pair of late runs to avoid a sweep in their 5-3 win over the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

The game was tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Marlins scored two runs. Martin Prado knocked in one run while Marcell Ozuna brought home the other.

The final play of the game came at the plate when Christian Yelich made a perfect throw home. Jeff Mathis held onto the ball and tagged the incoming runner to end the game.

With Giancarlo Stanton placed on the disabled list before the game, Ichiro Suzuki got the start in right field. Suzuki is expected to see most of the starts in RF until Stanton returns. In his four plate appearances, Suzuki was 0-3 but added a sacrifice bunt that led to a run. The veteran also scored one of the runs in the seventh inning.

Robert Andino was given a start in his first day with the team. The one-time Florida Marlin went 1-3 in his first big league action since 2013. Andino will serve as depth for Miami as he can play both the infield and the outfield. The veteran also gives manager Don Mattingly a pinch-running option off the bench.

Tom Koehler got off to a poor start, but settled in after the first inning. Koehler allowed two runs in the first inning, and did not allow another run until the sixth inning. The right-hander ended up with a no-decision and remained 9-8 on the season.

The Marlins will begin a road trip on Monday in Cincinnati. David Phelps will get the start for the first game of the four-game series.
