Danell Leyva of Miami competes in the Team Competition of men’s gymnastics.  Leyva won Bronze in London and was originally left off the active roster but was a last minute addition because of injury.

Jill Ellis and the US Women’s Soccer Team play France at 4 p.m. on NBCSN.  Ellis is the head coach and lives in Miami.  The US Women won the first game against New Zealand 2-0 and are the heavy favorite for a third straight gold medal.

Miami rower Robin Prendes competes in the qualifying heats of Men’s rowing from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m  on NBC 6.   Prendes was born in Cuba and went to Princeton. He competed in London in 2012 and finished 8th.

Foluke Akinradewo of Plantation and St. Thomas Aquinas H.S. in Fort Lauderdale competes for the USA women’s volleyball team against Puerto Rico at 4:15 p.m. live on NBC 6.

Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony and the USA men’s basketball team play their first game of the Olympics vs. China at 6 p.m. on NBCSN right after the women’s soccer game.  They are the 2016 Dream Team and should cruise to a gold medal.
