Gloria and Emilio Estefan Could Become Miami-Dade's Ambassadors

Gloria and Emilio Estefan could become Miami-Dade’s new trade and cultural ambassadors, a new appointed position proposed by Commissioner Jean Monestime.

The unpaid position would be for the next four years and it would not include reimbursement of expenses, Miami Today reported.

According to the report, officials will discuss the proposal Tuesday at a public meeting.

Legislators told Miami Today that the job would be for the “many great individuals who dedicate their energy and talents to cultural exchange and spreading goodwill on behalf of the citizens of Miami-Dade County.”

If approved, the commissioner would likely choose Gloria and Emilio Estefan for the position, which would begin Jan. 1 and end Dec. 31, 2017.
