Miami Knit-Master Karelle Levy Talks Partying

Miami knit-master and designer Karelle Levy creates couture fashions and ready-to-wear formfitting pieces for KRELwear. Her sexy, yet not-too-revealing clothing has been featured in such magazines asElle and Harper’s Bazaar.

Levy says rapper Nicki Minaj also owns a few of her dresses.
“I think that she’s an amazing representative of what Krelwear is in a lot of ways,” Levy said. “She’s got a lot of shape … Just crazy amounts of personality, has an amazing figure, which is great because my clothing pretty much can cocoon any body form or shape.
Levy designs for all different body types, and she has tried to create clothes that will look good on any shape.
“Sometimes it’s hard to find things that actually fit your body. What I do with my knitting is, I do certain types of knitting that encompasses any form,” she said.
During the art fair Scope Miami, she dressed art collectors onsite by designing garmets on-the-spot using yards of knitwear.
The next time she’s set to do impromptu designing in Miami is during Art Basel. But she says she will be in Berlin in July at the Bread & Butter tradeshow as an invited artist.
"It’s really exciting,” she said.
If you can’t wait till Basel, no problem. She's having a clearance sale at her studio in the Miami arts district of Wynwood. Her studio is open Saturday from noon to 7 p.m., by appointment only.
But “If anyone’s in Wynwood and they drive by my place, and they see a glass window at my studio, that means I’m there,” she said.
On Tuesday, she’ll be hosting a special "Shhh" black light party at Lords South Beach, so dress accordingly, in neon or white. “It’s a really fun crowd, it’s very fashionable,” she said. “We encourage getting dressed up."
Even the bartenders will be in Krelwear. The party starts at 9 p.m. with complimentary Herradura Tequila cocktails for the first hour.
