Stars pay tribute to legendary '80s teen flick director

Matthew Broderick's character Ferris Bueller became an icon in Hughes' film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off."

Following the death of director John Hughes on Thursday, a number of the stars of his beloved films reached out to honor his memory and career.

"I was stunned and incredibly sad to hear about the death of John Hughes. He was and will always be such an important part of my life. He will be missed – by me and by everyone that he has touched. My heart and all my thoughts are with his family now."
