"Laguna Beach" Star Kristin Cavallari to Join "The Hills"

"The Hills" star Lauren Conrad is ditching the MTV reality show -- and one of her former rivals has signed on as her replacement.
Kristin Cavallari will replace Lauren Conrad on the series and is slated to appear on 10 episodes, according to Entertainment Weekly.
The 22-year-old "Laguna Beach" alum, who will appear on 10 episodes, said she's brushed up on her acting skills and is ready to step into the limelight again.
"It's a TV Show," she told EW. "I'm not going into it like, 'I'm going to make great friendships with these people.' It's work! And drama sells. I think that's why they're bringing me in, because I know what works."
Cavallari said she's very different from Lauren, her bubbly blonde castmate and known-frenemy on "Laguna Beach," a reality show that followed affluent SoCal high schoolers through their teenage life.
"I'm a completely different person than Lauren," she said. "I have a lot more energy. I'm more outgoing. I'm a little more spontaneous. And she has a boyfriend so she's not dating on the show. I'm very open to dating and finding a guy."
