“Better Call Saul” Renewed Before It Even Premieres, Debut Pushed to 2015

Good news and bad news, "Breaking Bad" fans!

"Better Call Saul," the spinoff featuring everybody's favorite slightly sketchy New Mexico lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) has been renewed for season two, but we're going to have to wait a little longer to even see season one. While announcing season two, AMC pushed the series premiere to early 2015.

In some more excellent news, "Breaking Bad" creator Vince Gilligan, who directed the "Better Call Saul" pilot, has signed on as co-showrunner, along with Peter Gould, who originally co-created the Saul Goodman character.

The first season will consist of 10 episodes, and AMC has ordered 13 episodes for season two, which will premiere in early 2016.

"Breaking Bad" Star Aaron Paul Wants Jesse on "Better Call Saul"

"Better Call Saul" is a prequel to "Breaking Bad," and will follow Saul Goodman in his life before he became tangled up with the meth empire run by Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). So far, Jonathan Banks has signed on to reprise his role as Mike Ehrmantraut, and Michael McKean was cast as one of Goodman's fellow attorneys.

"Production on 'Better Call Saul' is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes," Charlie Collier, president of AMC, said in a statement. "When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of 'Breaking Bad,' there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures."

While it's a total bummer that we'll have to wait a few more months for more "Breaking Bad," at least we don't have to worry about cancellation!
