A man who allegedly stole a South Florida woman's iPhone and then took a selfie can now add a mug shot to his photo collection.
Jess Ewald, 19, was charged with grand theft after he turned himself in to the Palm Beach County Jail, the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office said Monday.
Ewald was being held on $3,000 bond Tuesday, and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.
The sheriff's office said Ewald turned himself in after they received an overwhelming response on their Facebook and Twitter pages after they posted the selfie.
The phone was stolen on Dec. 15 between 10 p.m. and midnight at Benny's on the Beach in Lake Worth. The phone was taken while the woman was at work, and she didn't notice the phone missing until the end of her shift.
"The suspect apparently took a great quality 'Selfie' using the victims stolen phone. Not only is this the male who stole her phone, but she remembers him with a group of his friends at Benny's," the sheriff's office said.
