A Florida Atlantic University worker was arrested after recording videos of other men urinating or masturbating at several of the school's restrooms, police said.
Seth Thompson, 40, was charged with 13 counts of video voyeurism and 4 counts of video voyeurism dissemination after police say he admitted to recording the videos and uploading them to different website.
University police were first alerted that there was a voyeur on campus in June when a commuter student reported being recorded in a campus bathroom, according to an arrest affidavit. The victim also reported that the video had been uploaded to the Internet.
Authorities said they were able to find the videos online and trace them back to Thompson, a school employee.
Thompson admitted to investigators that he recorded the videos and uploaded them to the Internet, where he believed he would remain anonymous, police said. He also gave authorities a walk-through of the different restrooms where he recorded the videos, saying he would place he iPhone 4 camera lens against peepholes from within the bathroom stalls. He told police he did not create the peepholes, but that they had been there long before he started recording the videos, according to the affidavit.
Eventually, he started recording the videos by standing at urinals next to other men and placing his phone in his pocket with the camera lens exposed, capturing some of the men's faces on camera, police said.
Thompson told investigators he considered the video recordings a personal challenge to see if he could succeed without getting caught, the affidavit said.
Police said he used his FAU-issued computer to upload the files. School officials said Thompson no longer works for FAU, according to NBC affiliate WPTV.
Thompson was booked into the Palm Beach County jail and later released on bond, WPTV reported.
