Authorities are investigating after a man was shot to death in North Lauderdale Monday night.
Kishon Dacosta, 26, was found dead just before 11 p.m. in the 1600 block of Belmont Lane, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
"He parked his car, as he's approaching his front door, somebody shot him multiple times," BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said. "His wife and three children were right on the other side of that door, they heard everything. Unfortunately, Mr. Dacosta died right on his front stoop."
BSO detectives were still combing through grass at the scene as they hunted for clues late Tuesday afternoon.
Neighbors said they heard what sounded like fireworks before they realized they were gunshots.
"I heard two big bangs, I'm thinking somebody's working on some construction work or something, I didn't know what was going on and I heard somebody screaming," neighbor Darrell Reid said.
Clive Ricketts identified the victim as his son-in-law. He said the man was the proud father of a two-month-old infant.
"My daughter called me and she was frantic on the phone, said her husband got shot," he said. "She said 'come right now dad, come right now.'"
Authorities haven't given a description of any suspects.
"The young man is a great young man, I mean, anybody would love to have a kid like that as a son-in-law," Ricketts said. "I'm really, really, really hurt right now."
