Mom, Daughter Face Charges in Teen Attack

The teen was taken to a hospital and then released

Authorities say an Oakland Park mother and her daughter faces charges after being accused of beating and stabbing a teenager, and slamming her puppy on the ground.

When deputies arrived on the scene on Tuesday, they saw 46-year-old Naomie Jeanite swinging a baseball bat at four teens, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Prior to the arrival of deputies, Jeanite had hit a 15-year-old with a bat and then Jeanite's 17-year-old daughter also stabbed the teen twice in the arms with a knife, the sheriff's office said.

After stabbing the teen in the arm, the daughter picked up the 8-week-old puppy and slammed it onto the sidewalk, authorities said.

The stabbed teen was taken to a hospital and then released. The dog wasn't seriously injured.

The mother and daughter were charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, while the daughter is also charged with animal cruelty, authorities said.

Authorities say there had been an ongoing dispute between the two families.

Sheriff's spokesman Mike Jachles said the 15-year-old told detectives she felt so threatened by the daughter that she transferred schools to get away from her.

Authorities said Jeanite was released on Wednesday on $25,000 bond. Her attorney's name wasn't immediately known. The daughter was taken to the juvenile assessment center to be booked, Jachles said.
