Miramar Mother of Three Missing: Police

38-year-old hasn't been seen since Friday, hasn't communicated with family

There is still no trace of a Miramar mother of three young children who was reported missing on Monday.

Vilet Torrez, 38, was last seen visiting a friend on Friday at about 11 p.m. and never showed up for work over the weekend or on Monday, Miramar Police said.

She also hasn't communicated with her family, which family members and coworkers said is uncharacteristic of her, police said.

On Tuesday afternoon detectives were at her home talking to her husband, Cid Torrez. The couple separated about two months ago. He says he last saw his wife Friday afternoon when he picked up the children for the weekend.

"Our relationship, as far as when it comes to the kids – she's a great mother. As for her and me we did have our little differences right at the end. But when it comes to our kids, everything was very very close," he said. "My kids need their mother."

A close friend and neighbor, Clarissa Garcia, said she last spoke to the missing woman on Thursday.

"We talked about the problems she was having with her husband. We talked at length about that," said Garcia, who said she would talk to Torrez at least once or twice a day, so she became concerned when she couldn't reach her over the weekend. "Finally yesterday morning I got nervous because it was so many days, and I sent her a text saying 'Hey r u ok' but I never heard from her."

Police said Torrez also did not appear at work at Bath Fitter in Doral.

"She was scheduled to work Saturday, Sunday and Monday, did not go to work, did not call. She's a very devoted mother we are told – failed to contact her children, failed to speak to her mother," said police spokeswoman Tania Rues.

Torrez is 5 foot 3 inches tall, weighs 125 to 130 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call Miramar Police at 954-602-4000.
