Suspect in North Miami Triple Murder Killed Self: Police

Suspect in January 2011 shootings killed self weeks after shootings

Authorities say a murder case has been closed after they learned the suspect in a triple murder killed himself.

North Miami police announced new developments Tuesday in the January 2011 killings of 25-year-old Harlen Peralta, 35-year-old Israel Rincon and 15-year-old Ashley Chow.

The Miami Herald reports 23-year-old Kesler Dufrene killed himself in the Tampa Bay area a few weeks after the shootings. Authorities say he had family in Manatee County.

Police say Dufrene was getting ready to rob a house near Bradenton last January when a neighbor confronted him. The suspect shot the neighbor and fled. When the Manatee County Sheriff's Office caught up with him, he killed himself.

North Miami police did not say what led them to Dufrene.
