1,600 Pounds of Weed Headed to Miami Home Seized

Boats were transporting marijuana from the Bahamas to Miami

Somebody's Christmas party will be a little less green after federal agents seized over 1,600 pounds of marijuana nearly smuggled into Miami.

The weed bust ended with seven people arrested and $2 million worth of drugs off the streets.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents intercepted boats on two separate occasions this week with their loaded cargo in tow. The most recent bust was Thursday, when agents seized 440 pounds of weed.

The boats were supposed to dock at a home on the Miami River and unload bales of marijuana. One boat contained 42 bales of weed and another had 90. A search of the house also turned up 15 marijuana plants and a hydroponics lab.

In total, agents racked up 1,636 pounds of the sticky green.

Detectives have not released the names of the suspects arrested.
