Gas-Guzzling Thieves Ripoff Miami Station

Hundred of gallons of fuel taken in gas station grab

A trio of gas-guzzling thieves were arrested in Miami early Thursday after they were caught trying to drive off with as much as 500 gallons of fuel.

The heist happened at the Shell Station at Northwest 36th Street and 27th Avenue.

Police said an employee of the filling station called 911 after he became suspicious when he saw five cars that had been pumping gas for nearly 30 minutes but saw no record of gas being pumped on a computer inside the store.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered the fuel thieves had jimmied the pump with a screwdriver and had stolen between 300 and 500 gallons of gas.

The three suspects were arrested at the scene.
