Have You Seen This Art?

Jorge Alberto Gonzalez was arrested yesterday after he made off with more than $1 million worth of art, which is still missing

Art aficionados may be looking for a steal while Miami's biggest art fair, Art Basel, is in town this week, but one man took the idea a little too literally.

Jorge Alberto Gonzalez was arrested yesterday after he made off with more than $1 million worth of art.

The victim, 82-year-old Jorge Zaragozi, agreed to sell the 10 paintings to Gonzalez, at which point their art broker, Gustavo Nunez, was to drive with Gonzalez to Gonzalez's office, where he was supposedly going to hand over a check to Nunez for $985,000.

On the way, however, Gonzalez stopped for a cup of coffee, and when Nunez got out of the car, the painting perp, according to the New Times, pulled out a gun, told Nunez that he would "never see the paintings again," and drove away.

Police eventually found Gonzalez, but he refused to give up deets as to the whereabouts of the paintings, which are still missing.
