2 Teens Badly Beaten During Home Invasion in Southwest Miami-Dade

Two teen brothers were injured after they were attacked during a home invasion in southwest Miami-Dade Monday morning.

The incident happened around 9 a.m. at the home in the 14100 block of Southwest 281st Terrace.

Miami-Dade Police said the teens, 15-year-old Alexis Gallegos and 19-year-old Alfredo Gallegos, were home alone sleeping when two suspects entered their home.

Police said Alfredo heard a noise and, when he approached the living room, was confronted by a subject that struck him on the head with a blunt object. Alexis heard his brother's cry for help and ran to aide him when he also was struck by a second offender.

The suspects then fled with money, jewelry and other personal items.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and transported both victims via Air Rescue in critical condition. Both victims are now listed in stable condition.

During the investigation, officers observed a subject come out of the neighboring home. While being questioned, it was found that the offender had an out-of-state and local warrant unrelated to the incident. At this time, it is unknown if this subject is related to the home invasion.

The boys' mother, Martha Martinez, rushed home after hearing the news but her boys were already gone, "I haven't seen them yet. As soon as I got here, they took them to the hospital. My kids are good kids. They were sleeping when this happened."

The incident remains under investigation. If you know anything about this case, you're urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.

Detectives were also investigating a burglary at the next door neighbor's home, but haven't said whether it was linked to the home invasion.

"I moved here from Miami because I thought it would be better," said Imandra Pupo, who came home to her house trashed Monday and several electronics stolen.

"How they got in, I have no clue because everything is together. The windows and gates are together. I don't know how they got in," she said.

Pupo is convinced the same suspects who attacked her neighbors, broke into her home.
