NO BAIL FOR MAN IN DEADLY DAY CARE CRASH
A man accused of crashing an SUV into another vehicle, sending it spinning into a day care building was ordered Friday to stay in jail until a hearing on Monday when a judge will determine whether he is a flight risk. One child was killed and 14 people were injured in the Wednesday afternoon crash. Twenty-eight-year-old Robert Corchado turned himself in to jail officials on Thursday after a massive search for him.
ASSOCIATE OF RIVERA DENIED BAIL IN CAMPAIGN CASE
An associate of former U.S. Rep. David Rivera was denied bail while awaiting trial on charges of violating federal campaign finance laws. A hearing was held Friday in Miami federal court for 44-year-old Ana Alliegro. Federal prosecutors want Alliegro jailed because she might flee prosecution. She was arrested in Nicaragua in March. Alliegro's attorney wants house arrest.
HOUSE PASSES BILL TO EXTEND CARRY AND CONCEAL
The Florida House has passed a bill that would allow the public to carry concealed firearms while evacuating their home during an emergency. Sponsor Rep. Heather Dawes Fitzenhagen, R-Fort Myers, explained the bill extends carry-and-conceal privileges to those fleeing during a mandatory evacuation declared by the governor or local officials. Individuals, otherwise, must be in compliance with all laws, including having the right to be in possession of a firearm.
HOUSE PASSES BILL TO MAKE KILLING FETUSES A CRIME

Killing or injuring a fetus at any stage of development would be a separate crime under a bill passed by the Florida House. The House voted 74-42 Friday to approve the bill that expands a current law that allows murder or manslaughter charges if a fetus dies after a crime committed against its mother. But that law only applies if the fetus has developed to the point where it can survive outside the womb, and it doesn't apply to injured fetuses.

The Shell Factory & Nature Park in Fort Myers is facing possible foreclosure after a lender refused to extend the period to repay a $1.2 million mortgage. The owner says he never missed a payment on the loan with a balloon payment that matured last month.
REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION
Police have arrested a man who allegedly tried to force a 13-year-old girl into his van in Hollywood. Martin Owens, 76, is being held without bond on charges of trying to kidnap a minor, online jail records show.
