FLORIDA MAN SENTENCED IN ID THEFT INVOLVING COLLEGE
A South Florida man has been sentenced to more than seven years in federal prison in an identity theft and tax fraud case involving names stolen from a community college. The sentence was imposed on 29-year-old Charlton Escarmant of Miami, who was convicted of four fraud and ID theft charges in March. Co-defendant Arthy Icart pleaded guilty and was sentenced in April to more than five years behind bars.
MAN ACCUSED OF POURING GAS NEAR KIDS, FIREWORKS
A southwest Florida man faces charges after authorities say he poured gasoline near children lighting fireworks on the Fourth of July and pushed a man out of a wheelchair. The Collier County Sheriff's Office reports that 72-year-old Richard D. Rice told deputies that his North Naples neighbors been lighting fireworks for two hours last Thursday and that the sound bothered his dogs.
FLORIDA MAN RECEIVES SECOND STAY OF EXECUTION
A former escort service owner who was scheduled to die by lethal injection at Florida State Prison received a stay of execution Tuesday. Attorney Todd Scher said a Bradford County judge ordered a stay for Marshall Lee Gore, who was set to die on Wednesday. Scher said he filed a motion to halt the execution because he says his client is insane.
7 REHABILITATED MANATEES RELEASED IN CAPE CORAL
Seven manatees rescued during a red tide bloom in southwest Florida have been released back into the wild. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and partners released the rehabilitated manatees on Tuesday in Cape Coral.
UPDATE ON TEEN INJURED BY BUS
The medical team a Jackson Memorial Hospital will provide an update, photos and video of Jerry Cunningham, the teen that was injured by a Broward County bus. Cunningham, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple broken bones, has undergone intense physical, speech and occupational therapy at Jackson and made tremendous progress.
