Arrest Made in Security Guard Murder

A woman admits to being part of a gang of robbers who killed a 61-year-old security guard in August

A Miami woman has turned herself in in connection with the murder of a security guard at a strip mall in August.

Trellany Adams, 21, admitted that she and four other suspects tried to rob a store and that she was supposed to be the lookout.

She also admitted to bringing a crowbar, a ski mask, and a pair of jeans that were found on the scene, police said. A fingerprint found on the scene linked Adams to the crime, detectives said.

A revolver with one spent casing was also found on scene.

According to police, the 61-year-old security guard was patrolling the Colonial Shopping Center at 9576 Southwest 160th Street when he drove by the suspects and was shot by one of them after lighting them with his flashlight.

Police did not say Adams was the shooter.

A homeless man found the victim and reported the crime.
