Police in north Florida say they have located a baby that a man was trying to trade for food.
The baby was found safe and healthy, and was with his mother at a motel, Orange Park Police said Tuesday. The man seen in surveillance video who allegedly tried exchange him for food was identified but his name wasn't released by authorities, according to WTLV.
The child was then put into the custody of the Department of Children and Families.
Jaime Rathje, the child's mother, was arrested on an unrelated warrant for failing to appear.
Authorities must still talk with the state attorney's office about any charges related to trying to exchange the baby for food.
Orange Park Police said the baby was never in any any danger.
Authorities were able to find the baby and in part because locals reported information. On Monday, police had asked anyone who had information or who knew the identity of the man, to contact them.
