Broward's “Loose Change Robber” Behind Bars

Broward's "loose change robber" is in custody after a viewer recognized him in surveillance video.

Christian Lee Fletcher, 42, is being held on charges of larceny/petit theft and probation violation, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

The surveillance video shows Fletcher walking around a North Lauderdale gas station convenience store at 7100 West McNab Road on May 7th.

He starts off by browsing through merchandise. Then, he grabs a drink and approaches the cashier with a dollar and loose change. He asks the clerk to add a cigar to his purchase, and when the cash register opens, Fletcher grabs the money and runs off.

He was seen getting into a gold, four-door Camry.

Jail records show he is being held without bond for violating his probation for an unrelated crime. It is unknown if he has an attorney.
