Police were investigating after a vehicle was stolen in southwest Miami-Dade with a one-year-old boy inside.
Just after 8 p.m. on Monday, Miami-Dade Police said the mother stopped at a home near Southwest 143rd Place and 270th Avenue. She was visiting a friend and left the child in the running car.
Police said when she walked out of the house, the car was gone and a bike was left on the scene. She immediately called police.
About 40 minutes later, investigators found the car abandoned with the child safe inside, near 140th Avenue and 272nd Street.
Police are still searching for the person responsible and said the investigation is ongoing.
