Coast Guard Searching for Downed Plane in Bahamas

The U.S. Coast Guard is searching for a downed aircraft southeast of Nassau, Bahamas, with 5 people aboard.

According to the Coast Guard, the plane was traveling from Crooked Island, Bahamas to Nassau. The air traffic controllers lost contact and notified the Coast Guard at 7:30 p.m.

The plane is a single engine Cessna with 5 people on board. No nationalities are known yet, except for the pilot, who was Bahamian. The Coast Guard is currently searching an area 12 nautical miles South East of Nassau.

Unconfirmed reports to a Bahamas news outlet said the five people on board were spotted with life vests near the scene.
