This dog will be available for adoption next week.

A dog spotted on a South Florida freeway this week just as the morning commute was starting to pick up is set to get a new home.

The white and tan terrier, who is believed to be about 3 years old, was discovered on Northbound I-95 near Northwest 54th Street at around 5 a.m. Thursday. Animal control officers corralled the dog into a safe spot away from traffic about a half hour later and took him to a shelter.

The dog, who sustained an small cut to his leg, is being examined by a veterinarian, according to Miami-Dade County Animal Services. He is expected to be available for adoption on Monday, April 21, if the veterinarian gives the green light to release him.
