2 Dead in Murder-Suicide Inside Employee Parking Lot for Miami International Airport

Police have ruled the double shooting inside the employee parking lot of Miami International Airport early Wednesday morning a murder-suicide.

Miami-Dade Police and Fire Rescue responded to the scene at Parking Lot No. 3 at Northwest 14th Street and Northwest 45th Avenue around 6 a.m. Witnesses said they heard arguing between two men before shots were fired.

"According to a witness on scene, the two males were heard arguing early this morning and the witness advised that he heard the shots fired," Miami-Dade Police Det. Marjorie Eloi said. "And then a subsequent second shot which we believe was self inflicted by the shooter."

The victim was described as a white male in his 50's or 60's with multiple gun shots wounds, while the shooter was a white male in his late 40's or early 50's with one gun shot.

Police have not confirmed what the relationship is between the two men or released their names, while an airport spokesperson said they worked there but were not employed by Miami-Dade County.

"There was little impact to the airport. There were a few employees who were maybe delayed coming into work," Miami-Dade Aviation Department spokesman Greg Chin said. "The parking lot was closed for about 45 minutes for entry and exit and then we opened it up."

The incident remains under investigation.
