Ex-Partner of Ponzi Schemer Scott Rothstein to Plead Guilty

A former partner of convicted Ponzi schemer Scott Rothstein in a now-defunct South Florida law firm is set to plead guilty to conspiracy.

U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke set a change of plea hearing for Stuart Rosenfeldt on Wednesday. He had previously pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say Rosenfeldt was involved in campaign finance violations and financial irregularities at Fort Lauderdale's Rothstein Rosenfeldt Adler law firm.

Prosecutors also say Rosenfeldt conspired with law enforcement officers to force a paid female escort to leave the state when her boyfriend threatened to expose their relationship.

The charges are not directly linked to Rothstein's $1.2 billion Ponzi scheme, which involved investments in fake legal settlements.

Rothstein is serving a 50-year prison sentence. The third partner, Russell Adler, previously pleaded guilty and awaits sentencing.
