The crime scene in Port St. John in May after Tonya Thomas fatally shot her children before turning the gun on herself.

A medical examiner's report reveals a Florida mother who killed her four children earlier this year was drunk at the time of the shooting.

The report, released earlier this week, says 33-year-old Tonya Thomas had a blood-alcohol content of 0.16 percent. That is twice the legal limit to drive in Florida.

Authorities said Thomas shot her children, ages 12 to 17, in Port St. John in May. The wounded children fled to a neighbor's house, trying to break in, but they returned when Thomas came outside and calmly called them home.

A medical examiner's report obtained by Florida Today says Thomas fired a revolver against the chest of at least two of the children, firing 18 rounds before fatally shooting herself.
