A young girl was rushed to the hospital after she fell out of a third story window at a Miami Gardens apartment complex Wednesday night.
The incident happened at the apartment complex at Northwest 205th Street and 17th Avenue around 7 p.m., authorities said.
The five-year-old girl was airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition and was conscious, alert and breathing, Miami Gardens Police said.
Her grandmother, who lives in Homestead, said it wasn't clear what exactly happened.
"She was opening the window and she fell out the window," Marcia Brooks said. "There should be some bars there, but they're halfway and I think when she was pulling it she might have just fell out. I really don't know the circumstances."
Detectives are investigating the incident, police said.
