Al Golden Fired from University of Miami

The University of Miami has announced that head football coach Al Golden has been relieved of his duties as head football coach after the teams record-setting 58-0 loss to Clemson Saturday.

Assistant coach Larry Scott will serve as the interim head coach for the remainder of the season.

"Al Golden's fired and the school's really excited," said Tristan Friedman, student.

Five seasons will Golden as head coach wasn't as successful as most would like; only two bowl appearances and zero wins.

"I think everybody's excited to get a fresh perspective," said Lexi Claugus, student.

"Going through yesterday's game, my analysis had a point that the end result has been identified and we went where I felt we needed to be as a program," said Athletic Director Blake James.

While frustrated fans, even former players are pleased with the firing, current players have a different take. Golden was coach, but also a life coach and father figure.

Quarterback Brad Kaaya tweeted: "One of the few guys who ever believed in me and gave me a legit shot to play college football. This hurts."

The fan base would widely agree, the failed coach is a great guy, but he still has to produce results.

"I think we have good players, good talent, coaching's huge. Obviously when you lose 58-nothing, it's a coaching problem, and not players," said Josh Waxman, student.

"No matter what happens to the team, what happens to the coach, we're still Hurricanes and we're still there to support and that's how we move on, that's how we get better," said Nick Kaleel, student.
