Hialeah Police Officer Arrested Under Cocaine Possession Charges: Cops

Tomas Munoz, 41, is charged with one count of cocaine possession and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Hialeah police sergeant was arrested Saturday morning for alleged cocaine posession, officials said.

Hialeah Police detectives arrested Sergeant Tomas Munoz, 41, who is charged with one count of cocaine possession, non-trafficking amount, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, said a press release from the Hialeah Police Department.

Munoz was arrested in Miami with the assistance of Miami Police, authorities said.

He is currently in custody and awaiting a bond hearing, according to police.

Once he is released, he will be assigned to at-home status and relieved of his duties, pending the outcome of the investigation, officials said.

Munoz, who has been with the Hialeah Police Department since 1998, was currently assigned to administrative desk duties with no police authority.

Officials did not immediately release the details of the investigation.
