A man died after being struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Pembroke Pines Friday night.
Pembroke Pines Police said the 49-year-old man was struck by a white Nissan Versa on the 200 block of South Hiatus Road as he was trying to cross the street around 10:45 p.m.
The man was not in a crosswalk when he was struck by the Nissan, accorind to police. The man sustained severe injuries and was died at the scene.
Police said 26-year-old Stefen Lockett was behind the wheel of the car and left the scene with extensive front-end damage. Police later located the vehicle in the Avalon community in Miramar.
Police said this is an on-going investigation. No charges have been filed at this time. The victim's name has been withheld, pending next-of-kin notification.
