Juvenile Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash in North Lauderdale: BSO

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a fatal crash Friday evening.

It happened around 8:30 p.m. near Tam Oshanter Boulevard and Rock Island Road in North Lauderdale. BSO said three vehicles were involved.

The crash occurred when a white Hyundai Accent collided with a Chevy Lumina. The Hyundai went on to hit a Nissan Sentra stopped at a red light, while the Chevy crashed into a concrete wall.

A female child identified as Suri Petit-Jean, 4, was ejected from the Hyundai Accent and pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators. Her mother, Ashanna Petit-Jean, 23, was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.

It is not clear if the child was properly restrained.

The driver of the Chevy Lumina has been identified as Nichoy Young, 27, and the driver of the Nissan Sentra as Chequita Caesar, 26. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Deputies and North Lauderdale Fire Rescue were dispatched to the intersection after a deputy in the area heard the impact of the multi-vehicle crash.

There's no word on what caused the crash.
