2 Men Found Dead in Boat in Key Largo Boatyard

Bernard Boucher, 45, and Benoit Paquet, 58, were found with “reddish pink” skin in the enclosed cabin of the 32-foot Wellcraft that Boucher owned, authorities said

Monroe County Sheriff’s detectives said they found two Fort Lauderdale men who may have died of carbon monoxide poisoning inside a boat parked in a boatyard in Key Largo Friday morning.

Bernard Boucher, 45, and Benoit Paquet, 58, were found with “reddish pink” skin in the enclosed cabin of the 32-foot Wellcraft Boucher owned, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. There was a generator in the engine compartment, and both men showed signs they have suffered carbon monoxide poisoning, detectives said.

They were discovered in the boatyard of the Pilot House Marina.

Boucher had come to the Keys to pick up his boat, which he was going to haul back to Fort Lauderdale to be worked on, a friend of his told the Sheriff’s Office.

The medical examiner’s office will investigate.
