“Love Bites” Survey Reveals Turn-Ons, Turn-Offs When Eating and Drinking

Nearly 70% of women say it's a turn-off when their date has more to drink than them

If you’re getting ready to go on a dinner date, listen up. A survey is revealing the turn-ons and turn-offs when ordering, eating, and even boozing.

Today.com and Match.com teamed up on a “Love Bites” survey to help singles out.

Four thousand people weighed in on drinking dos and don’ts. They found out that if you booze, you lose. Nearly 70 percent of women say it’s a big turn-off when their date has more to drink than them, but 23 percent of single men and women say it’s a turn-off when their date has nothing to drink at all.

"Drinking's fine. You just have to make sure you don't overdo it. Don't get sloppy," said Kevin Thompson, a single 20-year-old.

According to the “Love Bites” survey, 30 percent of meat eaters say they would not date a vegetarian while 4 percent of vegetarians say they would not date a meat eater.

For some, you have to know how to cook – or else 19 percent of singles won’t go out with you!

"It's a great plus if they can cook," single man Rob Calonje said.

So now that the food and drinks are covered, what about the date?

Ninety percent of males prefer dinner for a first date, but 67 percent of singles do not want their dates ordering for them, and 62 percent don’t want to split the check.

Oh yeah, and remember who you’re on the date with. Eighty-seven percent of those surveyed say they are turned off when their date flirts with the waitstaff, but 4 percent say it’s a turn-on.

"No, you're killing the mood with the date that you're with," Lenya Suarez Rojo said about flirting with servers.

The number one food that trumps sex? Twenty-six percent say chocolate.

There’s a lot more to this survey – like picky eating, knowing about food and wine, and when to order a drink. To find out more log onto www.Today.com/food.
