Man Rebuilds Life After Crash

Hallandale Beach man needs community's help to buy pair of prosthetic legs

A Hallandale Beach man is rebuilding his life after a motorcycle wreck in September left him with a brain injury and the loss of a finger and both legs.

Victor Troubatchov, a 21-year-old college student, on Monday said he will walk again, but he needs some help from the community to do that.

And although friends and family have made a lot of sacrifices to make his home accessible for him, nine months later, there's still a lot that needs to be done. This includes a pair of prosthetic legs that cost $80,000.

"They're called C-legs and they're very expensive," the FIU student said.

To help fund his prosthetic legs, Troubatchov has created a website and is selling "Live Victorious" bracelets to raise money to do something most take for granted: walk.
The bracelets cost $5 and come in blue. He also has a group Facebook page called "Live Victorious."

C-legs are prosthetic legs that would enable him to walk again.

He said he has been able to be positive throughout his situation by having supportive friends and being active in his community. He used to study political science, but after the accident he decided to change it to something in the medical field.

"The few times I cried, I woke up and realized I didn't have my legs. It was devastating," he said.

But he said he doesn't want people to feel bad for him. He’s doing fine.

"I have a small skip I like to go fishing on," he said. "I'm in the gym everyday."

He also hangs out with his neighbor, Miami-Dade firefighter, Michael Holiday.

Holiday said, "I found it hard to believe how such a young man could have such a positive attitude in the situation he was in."

Holiday keeps his bracelet on all the time.

"I wear it in the shower, at work, going into house fires, on medical calls... It's on me."
