Driver Wanted in Allapattah Fatal Hit-and-Run

A man died after he was run over twice by a hit-and-run driver Sunday evening in Allapattah.

The incident happened at around 7 p.m. in a parking lot of 2148 NW 17th Avenue, according to Miami police.

Eyewitnesses told police Arthur Fry was crouching down and petting a cat when a white pickup truck hit him as it was pulling into a parking spot. The driver got out of the truck, saw the victim, got back into the truck and ran over the victim again as he backed up and left, police said.

Police are reviewing nearby businesses' surveillance video that shows the driver speeding away going westbound on 21st Terrace.

“If the driver of that offending vehicle remained on scene and contacted the police as they should have done, the situation could have ended a whole lot differently," said Officer Kiara Delva of the Miami Police Department.

Police are looking for 44-year-old Felipe Valdelamar. His vehicle is a white 2009 Ford F-150 with Florida tag HTBS88.

Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash should contact Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
