Margate Police said that as they were responding to a domestic violence situation at 6835 NW 12th St. Friday afternoon, a gunman emerged from the home and shot at police – and then returned inside where he shot himself in the head.
The man was taken to North Broward Hospital, Det. Efrain Suarez said.
The outburst of gunfire happened as one officer was speaking with the domestic violence victim down the street, and two officers were approaching the home, Suarez said.
Officers were not hit by the man’s shooting, he said.
