Marlins' Winning Streak Ends in Philadelphia

The Marlins had their three-game win streak come to an end in a 3-1 loss on Tuesday

The Miami Marlins were beaten by the Philadelphia Phillies by a final score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

The loss for Miami ended its three-game winning streak and put it 1.5 games back of Philadelphia. The Marlins had their chances to score runs, but were unable to get a timely hit. This has been a common trend for Miami this season, and a reason for many of its losses.

Wei-Yin Chen started for Miami and pitched well, but still was tagged with the loss. Chen had a quality start by going six innings in which he allowed only two earned runs on six hits. The lefty struck out six and walked one, while an additional run scored with an assist from an error.

The Marlins were 0-7 with runners in scoring position, and left ten men on base. In the first inning, the Marlins had runners on second and third with nobody out. Miami would go on to score no runs in the inning, despite having some of its best hitters come to the plate.

Martin Prado doubled for the eighth time this season, while Christian Yelich picked up his first triple of the year. J.T. Realmuto added a two-base hit in the ninth which was his tenth of the season. The Marlins had five other hits on the day which were all singles.

The series will wrap up on Wednesday when Tom Koehler gets the start for the Marlins.
