Miami Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in Allapattah Wednesday.
Officers arrived to a home in the 1700 block of Northwest 30th Street, after a 911 caller stated she had frantically run from her mother's home after she went to visit her and found her unresponsive on the kitchen floor.
She also said her brother was sitting inside the living room with what appeared to be a handgun.
Miami Police's SWAT, Hostage Negotiators and K9 units arrived to assist, but once inside, they discovered both mother and son unresponsive. Miami Fire Rescue pronounced both dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances that led to their death, but the facts surrounding the incident appear to be a murder-suicide. They believe the son shot and killed his mother and later turned the gun on himself.
The mother has been identified as Concepccion Loholfftz, 70, and the son as Roberto Jose Reyes, 43.
