Miami Woman Found Dead in Oak Grove Park: MDPD

The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of 22-year-old Joanne Hines of Miami.

According to investigators, officers were dispatched to Oak Grove Park located 690 Northeast 159th Street around 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, regarding a female bleeding and possibly shot.

When crews arrived, the victim was located on the west side of the park and was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Hines was pronounced dead at the scene. Family members said she was a college student studying business and she worked overnight as a security officer.

"We have a 22-year-old young lady, who has never been in trouble with the law, who has now lost her life. This is such a shame," said Det. Marjorie Eloi with MDPD.

"I don't know who in the world would do such an act," the victim's mother said.

Homicide investigators are seeking the assistance of the community in locating the person responsible and the individual who called 911.
