Miami-Dade Schools Police said a woman accused of secretly taking her son from his Cutler Bay school was spotted in Louisiana

Miami-Dade Schools Police said a woman accused of secretly taking her son from his Cutler Bay school was spotted in Louisiana.

Carrie Weingarth, 32, is sought on a charge of interference with custody for taking her son from Gulfstream Elementary School on Feb. 14.

On Tuesday, police said Weingarth was last known to be traveling westbound in the Walker, Louisiana area.

Authorities say 12-year-old Erin Pena and his two younger brothers Steven, age 8, and Derick, age 7, are with Weingarth, who is in the company of her boyfriend, Christian Coello.

They are traveling in a 2014 Jeep Patriot, dark blue in color, with Florida tag 476HXS, that was rented at the Jacksonville Airport Enterprise, police said.

Father Steven Pena said he and Weingarth are in the middle of an ongoing custody dispute and that Weingarth is on a list of people not authorized to pick up Erin from school.

Pena claims he hasn't seen his two youngest children for five months. He said Weingarth disappeared and kept them from him.

Weingarth and Coello both have active warrants and criminal histories, police said.
