No Bond for Woman Accused of Kidnapping 2-Month-Old Baby

A woman accused of kidnapping a two-month-old baby in Broward made her first court appearance Monday where she was ordered held without bond.

Stephanie Augustin, 23, is one of two people charged in the kidnapping of Taraji Kemp over the weekend. She's charged with kidnapping, aggravated child abuse, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed burglary and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. It's unknown if she's hired an attorney.

Authorities say Augustin and her 14-year-old cousin worked together to kidnap Kemp from her parent's home near Fort Lauderdale shortly after 11 p.m. Friday night. The baby was snatched at gunpoint, sparking a multi-county manhunt.

Augustin headed toward Orlando before being arrested in Fort Pierce Saturday, authorities said. The 14-year-old in the case, who was caught Saturday in Miami, is facing charges for aggravated assault and armed burglary.

The baby was found safe in Orlando and is doing just fine. She was reunited with her family Sunday night.
