Obama For America Tries to Gain Support in Little Havana

The presidential election is scheduled for Nov. 6.

Obama for America volunteers were in Little Havana Sunday trying to gain support for the president in an area they called a “stronghold for the Republican party.”

“This is a neighborhood that is typically being seen as a bastion of republicanism,” said Alfred Fuente of Obama for America. “We’ve made substantial inroads. It’s really been a smashing success.”

Volunteers and supporters took to the streets to inform citizens of their voting options. One of those, the organization said, was filling out an absentee ballot in person at the county Supervisor of Elections office.

“Our supporters have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic and passionate for their support of the president,” he said.
