Armed Man Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting in Coral Springs: Police

An armed man who fired at officers was injured in a police-involved shooting at a home in Coral Springs Monday, authorities said.

Coral Springs Police Chief Tony Pustizzi said officers responded to the home in the 8300 block of Northwest 14th Court around 3 p.m. to a call of a distraught man who said he was going to hurt himself and others.

A SWAT team responded to the home and police negotiated with the man, later identified as Richard Euler, for a few hours but he refused to come out, Pustizzi said.

Pustizzi said Euler started firing rounds at officers from within the house then went to a window and brandished a firearm at an officer, who shot him in the arm.

Euler was taken to a nearby hospital where he was expected to be alright. No officers were injured.

A couple of family members were also in the home but weren't injured.

"Thankfully none of our officers were hurt, the SWAT team did an excellent job and it looks like everybody's going to survive this particular incident," Pustizzi said.

It's unknown what, if any, charges Euler may face.
