One Dead After Triple Shooting in Model City

Police investigating shooting that killed one, injured two

One person was killed and two others were injured when they were shot inside a car in Model City late Monday night, police said.

The shooting happened just before midnight in the area of Northwest 11th Avenue and 43rd Street, Miami Police spokeswoman Kenia Reyes said.

Reyes said police received numerous calls of a shooting in the area and when officers arrived, they found a silver Nissan sedan riddled with bullets.

Two of the victims were inside the car and the third was outside. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene and a second victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, Reyes said.

Family members identified the man shot to death as 21-year-old Ladarius Evans. They said his brother was the victim in critical condition.

A third victim who was grazed by a bullet was treated at Jackson Memorial and released. Police haven't identified any of the victims.

Police don't know what led to the shooting and are still investigating, Reyes said. She said the shooting may have happened six blocks from where the car was found.

"Right now, we don't know if it's going to be a drive-by, we don't know if somebody just walked up to them and opened fire on them, we don't know that right now," Reyes said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
